While they were waiting, a nearby cow distracted the K-9, who then bit the bovine. The deputy tried to protect the cow from further injury and deployed a stun gun on the dog. The dog was then put on a leash and into the patrol vehicle.
In reaction to the dog, the cow inadvertently hit the deputy and the property owner. They suffered minor injuries.
Turns out, it was all for naught.
"The original burglary call proved to be unfounded," the sheriff's office said.
