The collision sent the bus spinning and rolling onto its side, WBNS reported.
The bus also slid off the road, striking a guardrail before it stopped, CNN reported.
The bus was carrying 30 high school students to the Mid-East Vocational School in Zanesville, the cable network reported.
Eight students and the 74-year-old bus driver were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to CNN. The driver of the Mustang, Joseph Thornton,42, of Lancaster, suffered serious injuries, including a broken back, according to the accident report.

"I will see that bus in my dreams for years to come. It's the worst thing I could see as a superintendent and as a parent. That's not an image I'm going to remove."
