Comedian and daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is blasted for her tweet wishing Katy Perry a happy birthday.

DeGeneres, a public critic of Harvey Weinstein who spoke on her show about her support of the “#MeToo” movement, now is facing her own accusations of objectifying Perry and that her actions show a double standard.

“Happy birthday, @KatyPerry! It’s time to bring out the big balloons!” She wrote this above a 2013 photo of her staring down at Perry’s breasts.

DeGeneres’ supporters say her tweet Wednesday was just having fun with lyrics to Perry’s song “Birthday,” specifically:

So let me get you in your birthday suit

It’s time to bring out the big balloons

Detracters have stated that it’s a double standard. They say, had a man made a similar comment, it would go down like a lead balloon. Piers Morgan, a British journalist and talk show host, tweeted that DeGeneres would have been the first to call that man a “sexist pig.”

DeGeneres has not deleted the tweet nor commented on it, and Perry also has not commented.
