The volunteers at the AHeinz 57 shelter in DeSoto had to follow the same routine as the dogs, eating and using the restrooms only when the dogs did.
In a Facebook post, shelter officials wrote they had a goal of raising $30,000 for the event and were closing in on their goal, as $28,000 had been raised by midday Sunday.
Officials said for every $500 donated, volunteers would receive a "special treat," KCCI reported.
