The single was released in 2017 but finally hit the chart in May at No. 50 after it was featured in the film “Something Great” in April.

The singer, 31, from Detroit, was born Melissa Viviane Jefferson and is a classically trained flutist.

"Truth Hurts" was also added to Lizzo's 2019 LP "Cuz I Love You," which hit the No. 6 spot on the 200 chart in May, according to Billboard.

Lizzo is one of only five African American women with a No. 1 song on the Hot 100 chart in decades, joining the ranks of Beyonce, Cardi B, Janelle Monae and Rihanna, according to CBS News.

Taylor Swift is also having a good year. Billboard reported that Swift's new album, "Lover," launched at No. 1 on the 200 albums chart. Her songs, "You Need To Calm Down" and "Lover" both charted on the Hot 100. "You Need to Calm Down" debuted at No. 1 in June.
