Parfait was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail, where she was being held without bond, WVUE in New Orleans reported.
Investigators said Parfait had gone to the jail to post bail for an inmate being held on drug charges. When she handed over her $5,000 in cash, jailers noticed the strong smell of marijuana on the money, WVUE reported.
A detective followed Parfait out to the parking lot, where she had gotten into her car. The news station reported a search of the car turned up $39,868 in cash, 96 Klonopin pills and an EBT card in someone else’s name.
Authorities said when investigators executed a search warrant on Parfait’s home, they found four children left unattended, along with a plethora of additional evidence: 704 tizanidine pills, which are the generic form of a powerful muscle relaxant, Zanaflex; more than 3 ounces of marijuana; 5.06 ounces of cocaine, 25 THC pens; a bottle of the anti-nausea medication promethazine, which can also work as a sedative; digital scales and packing equipment, and another $945 in cash.
Parfait's children were placed in the custody of a relative, WVUE reported.
