Man accused of kicking puppy into Myrtle Beach pool

A man is accused of kicking a puppy into a pool at a South Carolina hotel Saturday, according to a report by the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Two people were arrested after the incident at the Hilton Ocean Enclave, WPDE reported. Dylan Edward Lark, 23, was charged with animal cruelty and public intoxication, according to an arrest report by the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Kelsey S. White, 20, who accompanied Lark to the pool, was charged with drinking in public, WBTW reported.

According to the police report, Lark and White entered the hotel's pool area, WPDE reported. Witnesses told police Lark kicked the 15-week-old puppy, which fell into the pool, the television station reported.

The puppy was unable to swim and would have drowned if hotel patrons had not intervened, according to the police report.

After the arrests, the puppy was found in a parking lot across the street from the hotel and being watched by Lark's brother, WBTW reported. Police took the dog to a local humane society, the television station reported.
