The man, who has not been identified, went into the Ottawa River around 2:20 p.m., the Lima News reported.
Rescuers were called around 2:32 p.m. and found the man’s body later in the afternoon.
"When we get a lot of rain like this -- the water levels are higher, the current's moving faster — those are the times when we typically get water rescue calls like that," Lt. Andrew Gorman, of the Lima Fire Department, told the Lima News.
The dog got out of the river safely.
