A New York man is accused of sexually abusing a goat, authorities said.

John H. Tibbles, 20, of Richland, was charged Monday with sexual misconduct, according to Oswego County News Now. Tibbles remained in the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or a $5,000 bond, according to The Post-Standard of Syracuse.

He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 8, the newspaper reported.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began as an animal abuse complaint, Oswego County News Now reported. Investigators found that Tibbles allegedly had sex with the goat, the website reported.

Police could not confirm whether Tibbles was the owner of the goat.
