Paralyzed groom stands at his wedding despite all odds

A man left paralyzed by a motocross accident was able to stand up for his bride on their wedding day.

According to ABC News, Kent Stephenson, 28, was able to stand and greet his bride, Misti Richeson, at the altar in Dekalb, Texas, on March 12.

Stephenson was paralyzed from the chest down as a result of a after a motocross accident in 2009. He had been dating Misti for only a few months at the time, but she stuck by his side.

In 2012, Kent decided to try an experimental procedure that involved putting an electrical implant in his spine. The implants allow paralyzed patients to stand, according to doctors.

On his wedding day, photographer Allix Ruby captured the moment Kent pulled himself out of his chair to stand before Misti on their special day.

Allix said the special moment moved many of their loved ones in the audience.

“Everybody was crying, everything went silent but all you could hear is people crying,” said Allix.
