Pennsylvania man, 90, dies after ‘targeted’ shooting near cemetery, police say

A 90-year-old Pennsylvania man died hours after he was shot in the head near a local cemetery.

A SWAT team was on the scene along with other law enforcement after the Saturday shooting. Police told WPXI the victim, identified by the medical examiner's office as Samuel Rende, was targeted and this was not a random incident.

Investigators said Rende was shot near Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield on Saturday morning. He was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. Police said the shooter ran into the cemetery after the shooting.

Rende was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Around 5 p.m. Saturday, police said a man had been arrested. Anthony Miller, 27, is being charged with homicide and robbery, according to a release from investigators.

According to a police criminal complaint, Miller admitted to shooting Rende with a stolen .40-caliber pistol. He then allegedly took the victim’s ring and wristwatch.
