Pepsi to launch ‘cola with coffee’ in April 2020

If you prefer to get your caffeine from a soft drink instead of coffee, but you wish that soda were a bit stronger, then Pepsi has a new product for you.

Pepsi Café is a cola-coffee hybrid that will have twice the caffeine as a can of soda. The 12-ounce cans will come in two flavors: original and vanilla. The original, Megan Schaltegger of Thrillist wrote, "is a robust black coffee-esque blend," and the vanilla is for latte lovers. The new drinks will hit the market in April 2020.

“We know that the consumers today are looking for products that meet the needs of energy, indulgence, and refreshment during that afternoon pick-me-up occasion. At Pepsi, we’ve known the potential of blending cola and coffee for years and after striking the perfect balance, we cannot wait to introduce Pepsi Café to the US next year,” VP of marketing Todd Kaplan said in a statement. “We are confident that cola fans, iced coffee drinkers and anyone in need of an extra caffeine boost will love the unexpected flavor medley of roasted coffee infused into the refreshing, crisp flavor of Pepsi.”

This isn’t the first time the cola company has ventured into the coffee business. Pepsi marketed Pepsi Kona in 1996 and Pepsiccino in 2004.
