Nicco Wang, who attends Stillwater High School, had a 36 on the ACT and 1,600 on the SAT exam, The News Press of Stillwater reported.

According to statistics released by ACT officials, in 2018, 3,700 out of 1.9 million students who took the test had a perfect mark, the newspaper reported. During the same year, only 6.8% of the 2.1 million students who took the SAT finished with a 1,600 score.

Wang was one of six seniors at Stillwater selected to the National Merit Scholars program, KOCO reported.

In addition to his studies, Wang plays the violin in the high school's orchestra.

Wang said he has not decided on where to attend college, but he has a good idea about his field of study.

"Right now, I'm thinking of education in mechanical and aerospace engineering," Wang told the News Press. "I'm not sure what university I am going to study at, yet."

Wang said learning about his excellent scores was a thrill.

"That was a great time," Wang told the News Press. "For the ACT, I woke up that morning thinking, 'Today is the day, isn't it.' I looked it up and was like, 'Mom, I got a 36!' For the SAT, I found out when we were visiting my sister, who goes to Columbia University in New York. So we were visiting her during spring break, and we were actually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

"That afternoon, I realized it was time to check for the score, so I looked at my phone and found out I got a 1,600. After that, I couldn’t really look at art anymore.”
