A New York man was ticketed for putting a mannequin in his car’s passenger seat in order to use the HOV lane, police said.
Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Spina was patrolling Monday afternoon on the Long Island Expressway when he became suspicious of the front seat passenger of a Saturn sedan, KABC-TV reported, citing the Suffolk County Police Department.
The officer pulled over the car. He found that James Britt, 34, of Centerreach, had placed a mannequin wearing a sweatshirt, sunglasses, hat and jeans in the front passenger seat.
Spina issued Britt a summons for the HOV occupancy violation.
