Prince’s estate unhappy Trump used ‘Purple Rain’ at Minnesota campaign rally

And it’s apparently not the first time the president has used the song at one of his rallies.

The estate tweeted a copy of a letter from Trump’s attorneys dated Oct. 5, 2018, agreeing not to use the song at campaign events in the future after the estate asked the president not to.

"President Trump played Prince's 'Purple Rain' tonight at a campaign event in Minneapolis despite confirming a year ago that the campaign would not use Prince's music," the estate said in the tweet.
It also asked the president, again, to stop using the rocker's music.

“The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince’s songs,” it said.

In the letter from Trump’s attorneys, there’s no indication of how long the president planned to honor the request and it seems for only a year at this point.

The Purple One is a beloved Minnesota native and still resided there at his Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen in suburban Minneapolis when he died of an accidental drug overdose in April 2016.
