Shad Gaspard retired from the WWE in 2010.

Former World Wrestling Entertainment star Shad Gaspard is believed to have disappeared during a swim with his 10-year-old son at a California beach, according to a report.

According to TMZ, Gaspard, 39, and his son were among a group of people caught in a strong rip current at the beach in Marina del Rey at about 4 p.m. Sunday.

Lifeguards managed to pull people out of the water, including Gaspard's son, but the former member of the Cryme Tyme tag team was not one of them, according to TMZ.

An official from the Los Angeles Fire Department told the website that Gaspard “did submerge” in the water. Divers were sent to search in the area, along with helicopters scanning the waters from above.

The search in the waters was called off at 7:30 p.m., KCBS reported. Officials resumed their search at 7 a.m. Monday, The Daily Breeze reported.

Officials have not officially named Gaspard or his son, but did acknowledge that a 39-year-old man and his 10-year-old son were involved in the incident, the newspaper reported. The family was at the beach on the first weekend Los Angeles County beaches had been reopened to the public, according to KCBS.

The father and son, whose names have not been disclosed, were out on the beach with family on the first weekend since L.A. County beaches reopened in more than a month.

Gaspard, who is 6 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 285 pounds, was born in Brooklyn, New York. He made national news outside the ring in December 2016 when he disarmed a potential robber who had a BB gun in a South Florida convenience store, restraining him until authorities arrived.

Gaspard has appeared in films such as "Get Hard" (2015) and "From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" (2014), according to IMDb.com.
