Russian defense plane reportedly missing near Sochi

70 to 100 people are on a plane reported missing by a Russian state-run media organization, according to the BBC.

Unconfirmed reports say the plane belongs to the defense ministry and was flying to Syria’s Latakia province.

The BBC reports the plane disappeared from radar 20 minutes after take-off around 5:20 local time and went missing over Russia's territorial waters.

Reports suggest a military music band and reporters were among those aboard the plane.
