"This morning, Leader McConnell tripped at home on his outside patio and suffered a fractured shoulder. He has been treated, released, and is working from home in Louisville," David Popp said in a statement, according to The Washington Post.
On Saturday, McConnell spoke at Fancy Farm at a political rally where both Democratic and Republican politicians have an opportunity to address the crowd, The Lexington Herald Leader reported.
McConnell had been in Kentucky on Friday to spend the five-week Senate recess, The Washington Post reported.
McConnell spoke with Sens. Rob Portman, from Ohio, and John Cornyn, from Texas, "to express his deepest sympathies for the people of El Paso and Dayton and discuss the senseless tragedies of this weekend," according to WKYT.
