A man was hospitalized earlier this week after he slipped on ice outside of a Nebraska apartment and broke his leg while he and an accomplice were stealing from a woman they know, according to multiple reports.

Officer Erin Spilker told the Lincoln Journal-Star that an 18-year-old woman called authorities around 1 p.m. Tuesday after she saw a man and a woman she knows outside the window of her home at the Waterbrook Apartment Complex.

The young woman told police she saw the man on the ground, holding her TV while yelling that he had broken his leg, the Journal-Star reported. The woman who was with him was wearing the 18-year-old woman's hat, according to the newspaper.

The man and the woman were able to get into a truck and leave the apartment complex before authorities arrived, KMTV reported. They were later found after the man, whose name was not released, arrived at a hospital for treatment of his leg, according to KMTV.

Authorities searched the vehicle the suspects had parked in the hospital lot and recovered $2,200 worth of stolen items, including a phone, a wallet, a DVD player and the TV the man had been holding when he fell, KLKN-TV reported.

Authorities arrested Sherry Gomez, 35, on suspicion of burglary, according to the Journal-Star and KMTV. Police said the man would be charged after his release from the hospital, KLKN-TV reported.
