A Texas babysitter is facing a capital murder charge after a baby she was watching suffered fatal brain and skull injuries, authorities said.

According to KDFW-TV and the Dallas Morning News, Tynia Johnson, 17, of Dallas, was arrested Friday, less than a week after she took care of 3-month-old Ashton Smith on Feb. 16. Court documents say Johnson told Ashton's mother, Aspen Smith, that the infant was feeling "ill" that day, so Smith's uncle drove to get the boy and, later, Smith, the news outlets reported.

Smith said she immediately noticed that Ashton's "eyes were rolled back in his head," KDFW reported. She and her uncle then rushed the child to a nearby hospital, where doctors determined Ashton was having seizures and had skull and brain injuries, authorities said.

The boy later died, officials said.

Johnson was booked into the Dallas County Jail on $150,000 bond, the news outlets reported.
