"Christmas Day was memorable, to say the least," Parson posted on Facebook.
Parson told KPRC her son, Cayden, and his two brothers went outside to see if they could use the magnifying glass to burn holes in paper. They got more than they bargained for when they set the front lawn on fire, the television station reported.
The boys ran inside the house to alert their parents, and the whole family -- dressed in matching Christmas pajamas -- put out the fire, which melted some of the home's Christmas decorations, KSAT reported. Family members used buckets of water and used blankets to smother the flames, and also turned on the sprinklers, the television station reported.
"What a sight to see -- a bunch of people running around crazy trying to put a front lawn fire out while wearing matching Christmas jammies," Parson, who grew up in San Antonio, wrote on Facebook. "We're (still) totally laughing about it."
Parson said her son still got to keep his Christmas present.
"But he learned his lesson," Parson told KSAT.
