Tractor-trailers crash, spilling chicken, potatoes

Police in Hopewell, Virginia, had a mess to clean up on an interstate Tuesday morning.

State police said two tractor-trailers crashed, spilling their loads and causing the closure of Interstate 295, WTVR reported.

The first truck was hauling potatoes, which spilled when the truck hit the guardrail. WWBT reported. A second rig hit the first and lost part of a load of raw chicken it was carrying, according to WTVR.

The driver of the first truck was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and faces charges. The driver of the second was also taken to a hospital with serious injuries, WWBT reported.
