Takoda, which means "friend to all" in Sioux, was found as an orphan in Montana. Oregon Zoo officials told KIRO7 that because he had close interactions with humans, he was deemed a hazard if he were to be released into wild.
A home was found for him at the Oregon Zoo in 2010. He shares his habitat with two other rescued black bears.
