Workers with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources came to the rescue over the weekend when they saved a pair of baby black bears who had been abandoned by their mother.
The cubs were found crying in their den on land managed by the department, authorities said in a Facebook post. Officials said they waited several hours to see if the cubs' mother would return, but when she didn't, it became clear they had been abandoned.
Employees with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife picked up the cubs to care for them, officials said.
