While attempting to avoid the woman and her baby, the driver of the SUV swerved and slammed head-on into a school bus taking students to Martin Luther King Elementary School, police said.
Paramedics evaluated the students at the scene, but no injuries were reported, according to Clayton County School District spokesman Ronald Jones-Shields.
"Due to the low visibility and the time of the morning the accident took place, our initial belief is that no students on board the bus witnessed the fatality," Jones-Shields said. "However, the district did provide grief counselors at the school as a precaution."
The wreck remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol. It’s unclear whether the driver of the SUV will face charges.
