A terminally ill 8-year-old boy hasn't let his fight with cancer keep him from experiencing his first love.
According to WTKR, David Spisak of Chesapeake, Virginia, has been diagnosed with cancer four times since he was 2. After his fourth diagnosis in March, his parents made a heartbreaking decision.
"No more treatment, just a little bit of living like a real boy," they wrote on a Facebook. "Our goal is to use the rest of our time letting him LIVE like a normal child, since for six years, he hasn't be able to."
He's done just that, even falling in love with one of his former classmates – 7-year-old Ayla. After David's parents took him out of second grade, she showered him with cards and words of love, saying how much she missed him.
"She kinda looks like Snow White," David told WTKR. "Actually, she is kinda like the real Snow White because she is so kind to everybody – especially me because she loves me."
The young couple recently had their first date at a bowling alley. David gave Ayla roses and a teddy bear; she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"I think I even recall saying one time I was feeling down, 'He'll never have his first love or first date,' but I was wrong; this was as real as it gets, and even some of us grown-ups could take a lesson from them," his mother, Amber Spisak, wrote on Facebook. "What an amazing thing!"
