Lucian Miu, 21, left a marked trail to view the Bridalveil Fall when he slipped on a wet boulder and fell 20 feet, People Magazine reported. He died at a hospital.

Miu was one of three people to slip near Bridalveil Fall in the park last week, park officials said in a Facebook post. The other cases happened July 29 and 31. In both cases, visitors left the established trail and then slipped off wet boulders.

“My foot caught, I started sliding and then tumbling down the rock, and then I fell over the edge ... I just thought I might die,” one of the victims said, according to the post.

In each case, rescue workers had to enter "dangerous terrain" to rescue the victims, the post said. Miu was the only victim to die after falling.

"Although others may be engaging in the same activity, do not perceive popularity as an endorsement for your safety. When you go into these areas, you’re not only exposing yourself to serious injury, but also your rescuers," the post said.

Over the past few years, there have been 23 documented cases of visitors slipping and injuring themselves at Bridalveil Fall, park officials said. Of those cases, 14 involved head injuries.
