The thirty-three-year-old former high school teacher was sentenced to four years in prison for having sex with teenage boys at her home after she was convicted Thursday of sexual battery.
She was accused of having sex in 2010 with five Mason High School students, some football players. She had been a teacher and athletic trainer at the school north of Cincinnati since 2000 and resigned in February after being charged.
Schuler gave the former students alcohol and had sex with them in her Springboro home in the fall of 2010, according to testimonies given during the trial. The five young men gave graphic, detailed, accounts of the exploits at Schuler’s home. One said sex with Schuler was initiated on a kitchen counter and two others talked about sex they had with Schuler in her shower, several said they had repeated group sex in her bed.
She had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Her lawyers argued she had medical and psychological issues and didn't remember the alleged incidents. They also said the students took advantage of her.
Schuler was charged with 16 counts of sexual battery and three misdemeanor counts for the alcohol offenses and faced a maximum of 81 years in prison. Peeler gave her 48 months with the possibility of judicial release from prison in six months.
