Blum has 50 shotgun pellets still in his body. Doctors felt the pellets were not going to do any damage.
Authorities said Ferryman shot and killed Clark County Sheriff Deputy Suzanne Waughtel-Hopper and injured Blum in the gun battle at the Enon Beach trailer park in Enon.
The standoff started after Deputy Hopper was called to the trailer park to investigate a report of gunshots, authorities said. Hopper, was shot dead as she tried to photograph a footprint at the park, about 50 miles west of Columbus.
Sheriff Gene Kelly told reporters that Officer Blum accompanied Deputy Hopper to the trailer park, they believed the shooter was no longer in the area when they began their investigation.
German Township officer Jeremy Blum was wounded in the ensuing gun battle, in which "many, many, many" shots were fired by the suspect and eight officers, Kelly said.
Authorities have yet to determine whether police gunfire killed Ferryman or he killed himself. Agents from the state crime lab are investigating the incident.
"I've never been in this type of situation before but if I had to I'd do it again," said Blum.
Blum said he's aware of the possible dangers every day he goes to work and that he's looking forward to getting back on the job.
Deputy Hopper's funeral is scheduled for Friday.
