Overheated Brakes Cause Semi Load Of Fire Extinguishers Catch Fire Near Anna

Authorities in Shelby County said a semi caught fire early Tuesday morning near the village of Anna.

The fire happened around 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the State Route 119 exit.

Investigators said the brakes on the trailer of the semi overheated and caught fire. Officials said the driver of the semi managed to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher by the time firefighters from Anna arrived.

The driver of the semi said he was carrying a load of fire extinguishers, according to Anna Fire Chief Tim Bender.
