Three people escaped a house on fire this morning Middletown as smoke rolled out of a second-story window.

Fire Chief Paul Lolli said a 911 call was made at 9:55 a.m. today for a house fire in the 1900 block of Tytus Avenue. All three occupants, who have lived in the house for three years, were out of the house when crews arrived. One of the occupants had been asleep and woken up by the sounds of a smoke detector.

The fire was knocked down within about 10 minutes of arrival, and it is still under investigation.

The occupants of the house declined to comment.
