Police: 2 Arrested In Undercover Drug Operation

Police in Springfield said a drug bust they made at a Springfield apartment complex is a great example of teamwork between officers and residents. They said phone calls from people lving in the area led them to begin an investigation at the Ronez Apartments complex off Home Road.

Narcotics officers said they received calls from neighbors about a month ago, complaining of drug activity at the complex. That led to an undercover investigation where an officer made some drug buys and gathered enough evidence for a search warrant.

The Narcotics squad executed that search warrant Thursday night. Officers entered and searched one apartment and arrested two people. Police said inside the apartment they discovered a large plastic bag filled with rocks of suspected crack cocaine. Officers also found a lot of cash in the home and said the green they grabbed added up to about twenty-three hundred dollars.

Police also sent a K-9 into the home to make sure they didn't miss any possible drugs that might have been hidden in a secret compartment or shelf.

Officers took two people into custody, a man and a woman, and took them to the Clark County Jail.

Both people are expected to appear in court sometime Friday. Police said they believe the two will be charged with various counts of possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs.
