Police: Couple asked to use dentist office’s phone, stole man’s keys from hanging jacket

A Middletown couple was charged with grand auto theft, a fourth-degree felony, after they allegedly entered a dentist’s office and stole a patient’s keys and his car, according to police.

Logan Warman, 26, and Brandie Kidwell, 28, of North Highview, were charged after they allegedly used the phone at the Clemmons Dentist Office, 3 S. Highview, took car keys out a patient’s jacket hanging in the waiting room and stole his 2015 Toyota Camry, a report said.

When police viewed the surveillance camera footage from the nearby Marathon gas station, it showed a man and woman, later identified as Warman and Kidwell, walking into the dentist’s office, then leaving a short time later.

A few minutes later, according to the video, Kidwell and Warman got into the car. The staff at the dentist office identified Warman as a patient there, according to the report.

Police went to a house on Highview, Kidwell answered the door and allowed police officers inside. She told officers no one else was in the house and she wouldn’t allow officers to search, the report read.

Officers obtained a search warrant, and officer Denny Jordan conducted a search of the resident with his canine. They found Warman hiding inside the residence.

They both will have their preliminary hearings Friday in Middletown Municipal Court, according to records.
