The man admitted taking the money and was handcuffed. The officer noted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the suspect’s breath. He was placed in the cruiser. The bar employee told the officers another employee had been injured in the process of the theft. That injured employee had left the scene to bandage his arm due to a laceration but returned soon after.
The employees told police the male had been hanging around the area of the cash drawer during a pizza sale and then reached across the table to snatch a handful of cash and fled. He was pursued across the street and was tackled by a bar employee.
The suspect was taken to the Miami University Police Department where it was discovered he was in possession of a driver’s license of another person. His identity was confirmed as John Dullahan-Bates, 20 and a Miami student.
The fictitious license was taken as evidence as was the $42 he had allegedly taken from the cash drawer. He was taken to the Butler County Jail after being charged with robbery, offenses involving underage persons and prohibited acts.
