Police Use DNA To Help Find Suspect In Rape Case

Dayton police said DNA evidence helped link a suspect to a rape case from 1994.

Wednesday, officers arrested Jess Alston Jr.

Police said he is a suspect in the rape of a woman who was outside a Dayton bar smoking a cigarette when she was dragged across the street and raped.

That was in 1994.

At the time, officers said they did not have enough evidence to file charges until recently, when they said DNA matched Alston in the case.

Police said Alston is on parole for a different abduction and rape.
