Polo Grille to close this month

The Tavern Restaurant Group announced today that The Polo Grille, 5035 Deerfield Blvd., will close for business March 30.

The company was approaching an end date on their lease and worked closely with Casto, the real estate firm that mangages Deerfield Towne Center, to negotiate closing terms that would benefit both companies.

“Given the impact it has on hard-working employees, it isn’t easy to close a restaurant,” said Nick Sanders, founder and owner of Tavern Restaurant Group. “We believe that it is in the best interest of our company to narrow our focus and strengthen our position for continued growth in our other concepts, most notably The Pub.”

Founded by Sanders in 1973, TRG also owns and operates deSha’s, Nicholson’s and The Pub. The Polo Grille opened in 2004 on the grounds of the original Cincinnati Polo Club as the fourth concept for the group and was home to Wine Divas, a ladies-only wine club designed to teach women about wine.

Approximately 45 employees will be affected by the closing. Employees will be given the opportunity to relocate into open positions at other TRG restaurant locations and receive outplacement assistance.

The Polo Grille will be open for business through March 30. Tavern Restaurant Group will contact all guests who have reservations booked after the closing date.
