Thunderstorms, the potential for a tornado and temperatures much colder than normal are part of the week’s forecast this Easter Sunday.

Today, the area will see a chance of showers before 4 p.m. with a high near 62 degrees.

In the evening and overnight, showers and thunderstorms are likely. That is especially so after 1 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service, which said a few severe thunderstorms are possible.

Damaging winds will be the primary severe weather threat, but NWS said a tornado can’t be ruled out.

Heavy rainfall at times could result in localized flooding, too.

A high wind watch is in effect from late Sunday through Monday afternoon. Winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible.

Those winds could blow down trees and power lines, making widespread power outages possible, the NWS said. High-profile vehicles could find travel difficult.

On Monday, showers and a possible thunderstorm are in the forecast before 10 a.m. Temperatures will fall to around 45 degrees by 1 p.m.

Meteorologists expect temperatures well-below normal through the week, and that will result in several chances for frost or freezing conditions.

Patchy frost is possible early Tuesday morning. Otherwise, Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 46. The normal high this time of year is into the low 60s.

The highs Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are predicted to be in the upper 40s.
