RELATED: Rue Dumaine named top restaurant to eat at
“As I look back I am very proud of the mark Rue Dumaine has made in this community, but I also know that nothing remains the same; things must evolve or die away,” Kearney said in the email. “Although change can be unsettling, it can also be exciting and open the door to greater opportunities.”
Those regular hours are 5-9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday; 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday; and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
After May 7, the idea is to have the restaurant available to host birthday and graduation celebrations, rehearsal dinners and other gatherings.
But there will also be special monthly dinners which can include wine, a local farmer’s harvest dinner, four “pop-up” dinners, plus cocktail and cooking classes, with some of those dates yet to be determined, the email said.
“I will remain invested in Rue Dumaine as we move forward building upon the reputation we have made for ourselves in this community,” Kearney added. “We look forward to continuing to serve you and yours during this transition.”
Rue Dumaine has been well regarded, locally and beyond. For the sixth straight year, Kearney was named a semifinalist by the James Beard Foundation for its "Best Chefs in America" competition for the Great Lakes region, the foundation said in February.
Kearney was the only chef from the Dayton area, and one of just three in Ohio, to be so named.
Kearney and husband Tom Sand, both natives of the Dayton area, opened Rue Dumaine in 2007.
