Drivers passing bicyclists on Ohio roadways are now required by law to leave at least three feet between the vehicle and bike.

Current law just says drivers passing cyclists must leave a safe distance but it doesn’t define that. The Ohio House already passed the bill.

Some cities such as Dayton already had a 3-foot rule for passing bikes.

Ohio joins more than two dozen states that mandate a three-foot passing distance, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
