Police shoot at suspect accused of stabbing roommate near Ohio State campus

A 22-year-old man is in custody, accused of stabbing one of his roommates in the neck near the Ohio State University campus, our news partner WBNS-TV in Columbus reported.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, was listed in stable condition at OSU’s Wexner Medical Center, where she was taken with injuries initially described by Columbus police as critical.

The suspect’s name has not been released. He was at a Neil Avenue house and suddenly ran out a rear door. An officer confronted the suspectand fired his weapon at the suspect but did not strike him. The suspect fled to a nearby field where he was taken into custody, WBNS reported.

He suffered cuts to his arms and was taken to Wexner Medical Center for treatment.

Police recovered two knives at the scene. Police said it was not known what led to the stabbing and that officers were interviewing another man who was in the house during the incident.

Columbus police responded this afternoon to an officer-involved shooting near the Ohio State University campus.

The incident happened shortly before 2 p.m. in the area of Neil and West Northwood avenues near the Tuttle Community Recreation Center, our news partner WBNS-TV in Columbus reported.

Police said it began as a stabbing at a home along Neil Avenue. The suspect was shot at by police following a foot pursuit into a nearby field. The officer was not injured and the names of those involved were not released.

The stabbing victim is in critical condition. The suspect is in custody, WBNS reported.
