Ohio lawmakers are pushing to increase the beer and wine tax to increase it from 40 cents to 81 cents per case of beer.
Local distributors such as Heidleberg, which is Ohio's fourth-largest producer of beer, are worried. They said if the proposed tax passes in Ohio, jobs will be lost locally and all across the beer industry.
The tax has passed the Ohio House, and Senate will vote in June. Rep. John Husted said he is supportive of the proposed tax. He said Ohio wants to cut income taxes by increasing consumption taxes.
However, the beer industry says liquor taxes are not going up.
