Steven Seagal under investigation in new sexual assault case

Steven Seagal is being investigated by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office regarding a new sexual assault case, its second inquiry involving the 66-year-old actor, the Los Angeles Times and the Wrap report.

In January, the district attorney's office announced they were looking into two initial reports of sexual assault involving Seagal: one from actress Regina Simons saying she was 18 and an extra on Seagal's 1994 film "On Deadly Ground" when he allegedly raped her; another complaint came from former model Faviola Dadis, who alleged he groped her during an audition in 2002, according to The Wrap.

It's unclear whether the new case involves either of those women or a third person.

The news comes mere days after Seagal, who has Russian citizenship, was recently named  a special representative of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tasked with helping improve relations with the U.S.

The Los Angeles DA's office also confirmed it is reviewing cases involving "Black-ish" star Anthony Anderson referred by the Los Angeles Police Department and a new file regarding Harvey Weinstein presented by the Beverly Hills Police Department, bringing the number of active L.A. cases against the disgraced mogul up to six.

Other high-profile Hollywood names who have accused Seagal of inappropriate behavior include Portia de Rossi, Julianna Margulies and Jenny McCarthy.

In November, shortly after the initial accusations against Harvey Weinstein were reported, Margulies told SiriusXM that, when she was 23, Seagal summoned her to a late-night hotel meeting and flashed his gun at her, and the female assistant who said she would be there in the room with them was gone.

A week later,  de Rossi tweeted her own Seagal horror story, writing: "My final audition for a Steven Seagal movie took place in his office. He told me how important it was to have chemistry off-screen as he sat me down and unzipped his leather pants. I️ ran out and called my agent. Unfazed, she replied, 'Well, I didn't know if he was your type.' "

McCarthy then claimed that Seagal pressured her to take her clothes off during a 1995 audition for "Under Siege 2."

"You know, this part has nudity in it, and I can't really tell what your body looks like in that dress you're wearing,'" McCarthy recalled Seagal saying.

USA Today has reached out to Seagal's representatives for comment.
