Chris Riegel, Stratacache chief executive, said the global digital signage systems market is expected to reach $13.8 billion by 2017. “As digital continues to redefine the model for out-of-home customer engagement, there is a huge opportunity to capitalize on specialty displays capable of integrating with new digital experiences,” he said in a statement.
Optika will offer optical bonding, LED (light-emitting diode) backlighting, film laminates and other technologies designed to improve display legibility, provide better protection from harsh weather elements, and reduce power consumption. The division will serve the transportation, military, automotive, and gaming industries, among others.
Stratacache has appointed Jason Meyer to oversee and manage the growth of the new division.
Established in 1999, privately held Stratacache sells marketing products that include computer-controlled signs and menus for McDonald’s restaurants and sports arenas. The company’s products also include content distribution and video acceleration technologies for retailers and brands.
Stratacache in July purchased twin office buildings on Poe Avenue in Vandalia to serve as its expanding operations, support and sales centers. The company said it anticipates hiring up to 100 new employees over the next three years to work in the new buildings, located at 6500 and 6520 Poe Avenue.
