Thousands will be needed to fill one of Dayton’s hottest jobs

In the next 10 years, one million drivers and thousands of technicians will be needed in the trucking industry, according to Kevin Burch, president of Dayton trucking firm Jet Express.

Trucking is among the hottest jobs in demand in the Dayton region, state data shows.

And as the economy continues to grow and older drivers retire, the demand for new workers will only get hotter.

As the growing economy puts big-rig truckers on the road, it will create other needed jobs to keep the trucking industry going,Burch tells us.

By the year 2022, about 65,000 technicians will be needed, he said. By the same year, 75,000 diesel technicians will be needed.
