Troy Walmart evacuated after trailer catches fire

Damages estimated at $30,000

Firefighters responded to the Walmart on West Main Street around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday after a trailer burst into flames near the store’s loading dock.

Employees and customers at the store, 1801 W. Main St., were evacuated as smoke from the fire entered the store, firefighters said.

Firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the store, and no injuries were reported.

The trailer was set up for steam cleaning, as crews were inside the rear of the store steam cleaning the meat lockers and shelves, firefighters said.

The fire was believed to have started when a heater inside the trailer caught fire.

The fire remains under investigation.
