Two-time area sports hall-of-famer dies at 69

Gary Musselman, who was inducted into the Hamilton City Schools Athletic Hall of Fame in January and continued his athletic career throughout his life, has died. He was 69.

Musselman was born in Hamilton and became a three-sport athlete at Garfield, playing football, basketball and baseball, according to the program for the 2018 Hamilton Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which was held in January.

He helped lead Garfield to a 9-0 football record as a senior in 1966, and he co-holds the record for longest kickoff return (97 yards) and has the second-longest punt return (86 yards).

He went to Morehead State, but his career was limited by injury. He was an electrician and a member of Local 648 for 26 years and was head of the apprenticeship program, according to his obituary.

Musselman is also a member of the Butler County Softball Hall of Fame.
