Fire officials said flames were shooting from the roof of the apartment building when firefighters arrived at the scene.
Officials said it took about an hour to get the flames under control. Firefighters said everyone who lived in the building managed to escape without injury. They said seven children and six adults are now without a place to live.
Investigators said four units of the building were badly damaged. Fire officials said it appears that the cause of the fire may be electrical.
