West Milton Officers Cleared In Fatal Shooting

Two West Milton police officers involved in a fatal shooting last month on Debron Drive have been cleared of wrongdoing.

The officers said they shot James Sowry, of West Milton, when he came at them with a knife. In a report filed on Thursday, the grand jury declined to indict officers Todd Cooper and Russell Walker.

An internal West Milton police investigation also cleared Cooper and Walker. One of the officers is ready to return to work. The other officer must undergo what is called a fit-for-duty examination.
