WHIO-TV/SurveyUSA Poll: Presidential Election Virtually Tied -- 10/10/08

McCain Flat, Obama Gains

A WHIO-TV/Survey USA Poll of Ohio voters has found the race for President is tighter than ever.

Republican Sen. John McCain received support from 49 percent of those people polled. Democrat Sen. Barack Obama received 48 percent.

With the margin of error in the poll being 3.8 percent, the race is considered even.

In recent weeks, McCain has gained no ground in Ohio. The same survey shows Obama gaining 3 percent.

The Dayton region reflects the exact same margin between the candidates.

The poll included interviews with 900 voters statewide on Sept. 28 and 29. Voter income appears to be a major dividing line between the candidates.

McCain has a 17 point lead among voters who earn more than $50,000 a year. Obama has a 21 point lead among voters who earn less than $50,000 a year.
