Collett (Stewart), Billie Jean

Billie Jean (Stewart) Collett, 92, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at The Woodlands of Hamilton.

Billie Jean Stewart was born on December 7, 1930, in Barbourville, Kentucky to Daniel and Mattie (Hibbard) Stewart.

On September 1, 1948, Billie married the love of her life, Asher Collett, in Pineville, Kentucky.

Billie and Asher were married for seventy-one years before his death on May 6, 2020.

A compassionate and caring person, Billie graduated from nursing school later in her life and chose to serve others by working at the former Logsdon Nursing Home in Fairfield Township.

Subsequently, Billie worked as a charge nurse at the Butler County Care Facility, where she remained until her retirement in 1995 after a total of twenty years of service.

Billie was a person of devout faith, family, and loving service to her family, friends, and neighbors, which included family dinners, birthday parties, and family celebrations.

Billie's deep faith in God was evident by her dedication and service to her church, the Princeton Pike Church of God, where she attended and served for more than fifty years.

Billie traveled extensively throughout the continental United States, including trips to Hawaii, Israel, and Egypt with her church groups.

Billie was a member of the Ladies Red Hat Society.

Billie is survived by her daughter Jewel Hensley (Frank); sons Asher Collett Jr. (Jean), Terry Collett (Mary), and Dennis Collett (Pam), sister-in-law Edith Gambrel, and brother-in-law John Collett.

Billie is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Asher, Billie was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Collett, and eleven siblings.

The Collett family would like to thank Dr. Chetna Mital, Dr. Anubhav Mital, and The Woodlands of Hamilton for the professional, compassionate, and loving care that they have given Billie these last three and one-half years.

The family would also like to thank Day City Hospice for the excellent care and support that they provided to Billie and the Collett family.

Rose Hill Funeral Home & Burial Park handled funeral arrangements for the family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Princeton Pike Church of God, 6101 Princeton Glendale Rd., Liberty Township, Ohio 45011 from 10:00 am until time of services, beginning at 12:00 pm.
